El embrión de Atalaya Roja data del verano del 2017, en la ciudad de Madrid, y se forma con la reunión de Ángel Miranda (Tenerife) a la voz y Santi Cubero (Mallorca) a la guitarra, amigos con gran afición a la música, y con experiencia en varios proyectos previos.
Comenzaron a componer y grabar de forma casera. Igualmente a tocar en formato acústico las primeras canciones. En la primavera de 2018 se incorpora Jorge de Pablos (Valladolid) al bajo. Y empiezan a tocar en formato acústico como trío en varios locales de la capital. En Junio del 2018 se unió a la banda Txema Amestoy (Vitoria) a la batería, con lo cual todo estaba listo para ponerse en marcha.
Mientras tanto la banda sigue componiendo temas y perfilando su sonido, lo que les lleva a grabar 3 temas en el estudio Lasting Noise de Madrid a comienzos de diciembre del 2018. Con esta trilogía de canciones comienzan a darse a conocer a los medios durante la primera mitad de 2019 con una acogida notable.
Sus canciones comienzan a sonar en Radio3. El estilo de la banda se sitúa dentro del rock indie, en un sentido amplio, ecléctico, fusionando las distintas visiones del pop y rock de sus componentes y caracterizándose por un sonido guitarrero con melodías de voz que pretenden enganchar al público a la primera.
Durante 2019 han sido finalistas en el concurso de bandas del pub irlandés Obrian en el centro de Madrid y en el concurso Mans, con más de 300 bandas inscritas.
En la segunda mitad de 2019 se incorpora Arantxa Llano (San Fernando de Henares, Madrid) al bajo. Con ella Jorge se libera para tocar teclados y segunda guitarra otorgando de un sonido más contundente sus directos.
El pasado 24 de enero, Atalaya Roja presentó su primer álbum, compuesto de 9 temas, donde mezclan diversos estilos musicales dentro del pop-rock y cantando en inglés y castellano. El confinamiento le ha frenado en seco pero no sus ganas de seguir trabajando y seguro que pronto podremos verles en los escenarios.
